Its just that I hacked out last week and found I got really hot and I only wore a t-shirt type top and a water-proof jacket. Having said that I have the same problem in a lesson - I'm tempted to just wear a t-shirt as I obviously warm up with the exercise. What do you guys normally wear?

I wrap up warm in a fleece or 2 & a waterproof jacket. I figure that if I get too hot I can take a layer off & tie it round my waist, but if I get too cold I just sit there feeling miserable!

jeans, chaps, boots, hat,BP, t-shirt. i dont usually hck in more as i get hot under my BP anyways (no way am i hacking Curly without it!) and if it rains...well its only water. ill dry :D
If i get relly cold then i will take a jacket bt going for a gallop and trying to stop usually warms me up!

I normally wear a pair of old jeans and if its hot just a t shirt or vest top and my riding boots. Although from the posts i've seen around I just get on and go and only really check im facing the right way.

A fluorescent hat cover and tabard over my regular riding gear (t-shirt and thin jods in summer, sweaters, coats and thick jods in winter :) )

Also on a hack if you're hot I would avoid a sleeveless top, they are a pain to pull up fiddly straps that slip off your shoulders and also little sleeves offer better hedge/branch protection!

If you wear a light zip up top (so you can take it off without taking off your hat) you can always tie this arround your waist!

Even in hot weather i try to where a jacket (thin though) over a top or t-shirt, after my Ride and Road safety instructor drumming into our heads the horrific stories of people wearing just t-shirts instead of a long sleeve top or jacket, i only wear t-shirts around the yard when its warm. I wear jeans. tracksuit bottoms, jods and water proofs, depending on wheather, also wear either wellies, long boots or muckers with chaps. Sometimes a fluroscent tabard although i never go on the roads where amba is stabled.

Definitely wear long sleeves and generally gloves for dealing with rogue branches, otherwise I inevitably get scratched to bits.

It depend's on what the weather's like but I usually wear jodphur's, chap's, glove's (unless it's a warm summer's day) And any top depending on what the weather's like. But I alway's wear my hi-viz tabard.

ive made the mistake before of riding in a strappy top, and falling off into brambles...not only did u have scratched over arms and back of my neck and shoulders, the fall moved the bottom of it up too and i scratched dirt and thorns into my lower back too!
i would recommend a thin long sleeved top, or at worst, a t shirt...once saw a girl hacking out in shorts and a bikini top mid summer...i thought she was insane!

i know none of us are planning to fall off but...

(saying that i wont always stick to my own rules:rolleyes: )

Rather than wear a top & jacket wear a jumper. In the summer i wear a t-shirt/strap top. Always wear my jods/boots/chaps :) Hat and BP :D

Its still cold here most of the time.
Today was lovely though, and warm 12C. I rode Ruby who needs a lot of leg and 'only' wore 4 layers. A t-shirt, thermal top, long sleeved top and thin fleece. I was neither hot nor cold, so just right.

In lessons I get much hotter though and I would've taken off the long sleeved top and thermal top if I was having a lesson today

As it has been quite mild lately i just ride in a thin t-shirt, with my body protector over the top and then my v. lightweight waterproof over the top. And if im hacking out i have my flouresent tabbard on.

Hi!
I allways ware long boots when im hacking because, especialy if there are jumps on the track then they make me feel like i have more support, and jodhpurs with full seat, this and long boots and i have tones of grip!
Normaly it depends on the weather but not to bulkey, this also weighs me down, unless your waring a jacket and then you dont have much choice..
but aslong as you feel comfortable, and can move freely then you should be able to tell what the right type of thing is..

Matt!

:D I always wear hi viz even in the brightest of weathers because my cloths are dark and I ride a bay :)

I'm not really bothered about the details of anything else except my trusty hat

Is this an old post from last summer or something? When I last hacked (last weekend) I wore - thermals, johds, knee high wooly ocks, hunter wellies, a Tshirt, a micro fleece, a thick fleece, my Musto snug, and my long Musto suffolk coat (is that the name?) over the top! Oh, and high viz over the lot, and sealskinz gloves, which are great! I was toasty warm despite the cold and rain! I often wear a pair of fleecy trousers over my johds as well.

In summer I wear strappy tops though. I dont care if you can see my bra straps - I like to get tanned shoulders and back!
