As there seem to be some experts on turn-out here I would appreciate a bit of help. I hope to show Penny in Ridden and Working hunter this year and would appreciate some help with turn-out.
Unfortunately the only photo I have in show gear at present isn't very brilliant, and is from jumping a few weeks ago. For showing I would be wearing a blue velvet hat with a leather harness, and boots with a garter strap, and Penny would have a havanna double bridle with a rugby pelham.

Depending on your advice, I would be in the same shirt, tie, tweed & breeches (should they be yellower?) and Penny would be in the same black saddle (not ideal I know, but it is all I have apart from a black dressage saddle). In case you can't see propery, I am wearing a white shirt and a maroon tie with gold spots.I would also be carrying a leather covered showing cane, and Penny would be plaited and her tail pulled.

This (http://www.photobox.co.uk/album/album_photo.html?c_photo=66485531) was Penny last summer (I must get a more up to date photo). Her quarters have grown since then - not enough but I am working on that!

can't see the pics, but i know what the lovely penny looks like. i would say though, have a black bridle if you can, if you've got a black saddle, they rally should match.
what colour is your jacket? i am not a fan of yellowy breeches, but i am aware i am in a minority there!

I can't see the second photo? If you can stick it up then it's easier to critique everything at once.

One thing I would say, is PM Bellezebra for advice on how she applies makeup to her grey show cob. I'll see if I can find the thread where she has the photos :)

I *think* the photos should work now.

My new bridle is arriving on Saturday so I can't change the colour - I had a hard decision as to which colour to get, and plumped for havanna as it suits Penny so much better, and in the hope that one day I will be able to get a havanna saddle for her as she is currently in Harriet's hand-me-downs.

I would certainly be interested in knowing about the make-up, as I have never had a "white" (if spotty) horse before. As you can (hopefully) see here (http://www.photobox.co.uk/album/album_fullsize.html?c_photo=63609395) she is very spotty!

The jacket is keeper's tweed.

ooh, i can see the pic now. i think your jacket is fine! be careful with makeup though, i don't think hunters are meant to wear any. this is my colour scheme with my spotty lady - her spots are so ginger i can't use havana tack, it clashes with the freckles!

No make-up is fine with me - makes life easier.

That is a relief about the jacket as a new one wouldn't be cheap!

I do believe we have matching ties :D
