Seem to be posting loads of new threads lately ;)

Originally I had planned on doing a walk/trot test in April and then maybe doing a Prelim in May (there are only two dates available at this venue). But then I remembered she'd need to have her 'flu vaccine to compete :o I've got this sorted now as you may have read in my other post, but unfortunately this will count out the April date.

So, I can either go for the walk/trot test in May which is Pony Club D Level 1 or go straight for a Prelim on the same day. I have enough time to work on our canter transitions between now and May (hopefully!) so I could just go for the Prelim. Baring in mind this is our first outing.

I wondered which of these tests would be best for a first test? The choice is Prelim 07 or Prelim 18.

If anyone has any copies of tests they could let me have I'd be very grateful :)

Prelim tests sort of get harder as you go up through the numbers. P7 is basically 20 metre circles, change the rein, go large etc, in walk trot and canter, although you don't even have to do the whole 20m circle in canter, and free walk on a long rein. P18 has go 3 loop serpentines, half 20m circles in the middle of the school, and cantering whole circles.

P7 would be the better test to begin with if you ask me, it is much easier to be ride accurately.

I would go straight for the prelim, thats what i'm going to do with Phantom. We're starting with P4 and P10 (on grass, argh!).

Take a look at www.myonlinedressage.com they have them all there..you`ve got to join though, but over a year you do get your money back on savings on tack discounts

Thanks for that Laura, I think I might do the P7 then as want an easy one to start with. Will be nervous enough worrying about how my horse will act in a strange environment, let alone concentrate on a harder test. P18 sounds good though, so maybe next time.

Definitely P7, but why not do the walk trot test as well to let him get used to the arena and settled before doing the Prelim test?

I could do both but money is an issue and I'd have to pay my RI to take me as there's no one else so not sure how much she'd charge me. Not asked her yet so fingers crossed she will do it!
There is an outdoor warm up area so we can warm up before doing the P7. It's just the canter in the Prelim I was a bit worried about.
