I have a saddler coming to make adjustments.

I know the saddle is not balanced right now (cantle low). This first photo was taken after 30 mins of work. The saddle has traveled up his wither and Im hoping thats only because of the imbalance. If its because the tree is too wide, I'll have to sell it on. Dont use the pad to judge, its a piece of junk and doesnt fit any of my horses correctly.

This photo was taken before work to compare.

Any opinions about the fit would be greatly appreciated. Also, what do you think about the positioning of the girth? Is it too long?

Beautiful saddle and Bonfire is looking fab :) maybe the girth helped pull it forward? He looks like his girth groove is slightly forward of where the saddle should be.

Thanks Rips! It is beautiful and so soft. I love it so I really hope I dont have to sell it on.

Do you think a curved girth would help better? Do they make anything to help it stay back?

btw, good quote in your sig - how true!

A crupper :o a strap that goes under the tail and stops the saddle from slipping forward, but I don't know if thats realistic long-term option (usually used for extra-wide ponies and driving)

Haven't used a curved girth myself, I think KarinUS has just bought one to fix the same problem... maybe check how she gets on!

Actually maybe it was Scarlet who got the girth not KarinUS, I can't remember though I posted on the thread :o

Can you get Centre fire rigging on dressage saddle? That was the only thing that REALLY worked on splash - his groove was so far forward.. well his saddle ended up looking like yours does and then some.

:T They just arn't built "normal" are they :D

SLark, its a Duett saddle so its specifically designed for the wider breeds. They dont make assessory tack though to make a set suited to the big boys.

Sooooooo, does anyone have an input regarding the girth sizing? I think its too big? (Does it go up too far on his side?)

Girth looks about where mine ends ...well clear of the elbows when he's moving but not too high either:)

Yup, I have an anatomical girth for DJ because his girth groove is forward. I bought a look-alike of the County Logic Girth. The saddlery in Canada that I got it from is no longer in business though. It has worked out very well for us. Scarlett just recently bought a genuine County Logic Girth.
The Torsion Luna Girth would be right in the middle price-wise if you are interested.

You'll definitely need to find something. That's a lot of movement for a saddle!

Yes :( I haven't been riding in it yet. Heart breaker because its sooo luscious!

I need to get a saddler out here first - and a proper girth. Im getting so frustrated with PA - I can't get any decent horse people out my way! Not a farrier, vet or saddler. grrr.... Gawd knows how long it'll be till I get to use the thing! (thanks for letting me vent :D)
