Saphy wears a double bridle for showing but a rugby pelham for general exercise.
I know its to make them look like a double bridle if you use it with a sliphead, but is the action any different?
For anyone who doesn't know, this is a rugby pelham..she has this mouthpiece

double bits have a more specific action, working on different and partucular areas of the jaw, mouth andother areas of the face (such as the poll).
however for horse with small/fleshy mouths, a rugby pelham is preferable and more comfortable and effective. it will not be as accurate as the double bits together but will have more precision than a 'normal' pelham.
the loose ring will work more on the poll because it acts more independantly.
this isn't much but more or less pointful!

yes - the loosering snaffle means you can use it more independently - it is a joint removed from the shank so won't have the fuzzy effect of the top rein on a normal pelham.
stick the slip head on,m and you should find it easier. they are different to ride in with no slip head.
