Asking on behalf of a pony I know, has anyone ever had any trouble with the Stubben cord girths or are they generally a very good fit and comfortable?

Its just she changes shape quite quickly and doesn't get on with elasticated girths and I might just have access to a stubben if it seems like a good idea...

I have one and love it!! I've never heard a bad report on them. They are beautifully soft, have a really wide bearing area and wash lovely.

Highly recommended!!

I bought one about a month ago, and only just managed to get it to do up round Merrick's big tummy :o
Bearing in mind he hasn't been ridden since winter 04, and hasn't worn any tack for ages now, he was wonderfully relaxed and comfortable and seemed totally unconcerned. I only led him round in-hand, but there was definitely no pinching or rubbing, and the saddle was very stable on his back.
So far, it gets a big thumbs up from me :D

I have one and it stopped my saddle slipping.

Only problem is, everytime I wash it...even on 30 degrees it shrinks!!

Karen, do you keep having to replace it? My local tack shop (Norton and Newby) don't stock the Stuben ones, but a german alternative - so i'll be picking mine up when Stumpy's size in.

Just curious: How are they for sweaty horses? Breathable? Also, should I go generously in the sizing?

I'd also give a big thumbs up for Stubben girths, they do shrink slightly when you've washed them, but I find them a bit like a pair of jeans, they expand a again once you've got them on :D

My friend does all her eventing with stubben girths, so a big yes to being suitable for sweating and being breathable! :)

CF - No I got a new one last time but I got a HUGE size as I figured it might shrink again but as SR says they do appear to expand again.

Oh and I've not found a tack shop that sells them, get mine from Simply Stubben via ebay £26...I'm gonna get a white one at some point.:)

I have one and like(liked) it as a girth but..... the velcor on my numnah sticks to it and made it all pooky(annoying) but even more annoying I machine washed it and one of the cords came undone. I still use it as 2nd girth but won't buy another. They state not to m/c wash so no replacement was offered.

Returned to my old faithful stubben leather I am afraid.

TDS saddlery had them at a good price when I recommended it to a friend.
