I know, I was outbid by £10
Freemax looks very like a Freeform - but is it as good or is it a rip-off? Hmm.

what is the fit like on your freeform, is it good for any horse? does it have less bulk than a trekker? does it look more like a english saddle, or is it bigger? are the stirrup bars forward or more dressage style?
sorry about all the questions!!!

the stirrup position is interchangeable on the freeform, they are on velcro so you can out them wherever you like.
So far only had saddle on welsh cob, hw cob and welsh a, but fits them all nicely. Mine is an sb with forward girthing.
The freeform has less padding between horse and your legs then the trekker talent I had.
I think it looks fairly traditional, tho not so much as an ansur or fhoenix, or even a startrekk dressage

does it have enough clearence for a horse with withers?
do you have to have special padding for underneath it?
got any piccies?

I have 2 high withered horses, an ex racer and an idxtb, i might out it on my idxtb with a suber pad or if my equitex gave enough clearance(doubtful) but wouldnt use it on my ex racer as she doesnt like saddles without gullets and doesnt like suber pads.
my welsh cob has a sheepskin half pad and nonslip pad under the freeform, although its sitting on her withers more now so im trying a granduer pad under it.
Freeform make a haf pad with non slip underside and a place for shims, if they wernt £70 id have one.

just to add she has teh sheepskin as the equitex pad makes it a bit unstable on her. tho it hasnt moved at all with the sheepskin and you can mount form teh ground without a worry.

it looks like it would most probably fit your mare with the correct padding.
what are you looking to do with your horse/saddle? and what is your budget?

Have been wondering this for a while, can you change normal stirrup leathers to a freeform saddle?
I'm not too keen on the westerntype ones.
Been thinking about getting one for hacking out though, looks very comfy

The Freemax is an Indian made Freeform copy. Poor quality and will have to work hard to keep up with all the changes the Freeform is going through! (New models, new girthing, new stitching, funky colours - you name it, the Freeform rocks!)
Yes, I'm a Freeform fan! :)

My local tack shop is getting them in, and the owner told my husband that he's tried one, sat in it, ridden in it etc. and says it very comfortable and good quality! But then, that's probably the only treeless saddle that he's tried, so nothing to compare it with. I will go and have a nose at one when he gets them.

The Freemax saddle is actually made by the very man who designed the original Freeform for Omnika! Wouldn't want to commit to it being made in India though. Many of these less expensive saddles are made in China and they have superb standards. Shame some of the Brit saddlers didn't learn by this... :o
From all reports, this saddle appears to very well made, just at a more sensible price than the Freeform.... ie, without every man and his dog's markup ;)
Surely, Chloe, if you're a Freeform fan - then you should applaud this reincarnation of the original saddle ;) Less is more and more to the masses at that price :D

The Freemax is still inferior IMHO (have seen them in the flesh). The seats are on a strip of velcro whereas the Freeform have velcro the whole underside of the seat and the Freemax has the old iron wither arch which Freeform have replaced with the flexible aluminium arch.
The only thing that the Freemax has that the Freeform doesn't is the knee rolls attached to the seat however if the seat is on even slightly squiff the whole thing looks immensely untidy.

I'd be interested to know if there has been much pressure testing done with it?

Mariaana would you be able to PLIP test a Freemax when you get them?
Like Martini I'd be very interested in the results :)

A single PL testing on one saddle doesn't tell you much in comparison with other saddles; you should really have various saddles tested on the same horse with the same rider; and then you would be able to tell which saddle fits that particular horse best. If you did the same test on another horse or with another rider, the results might be totally different.
It will be another month or so before the Freemax saddles are in the country.
