omg, I was terrible. I have gotten worse each lesson with the long reining but RI says it's just because we are doing harder things. I don't think so. I couldn't even get the horse to walk in a circle, even after the cones were put up! I was too late with my cues and so by the time she turned, she was way past the cone and so I seemed to be doing some weird triangles.

It felt terrible and I was sooooooo embarrassed. I didn't have a good feel for the reins at all and so the horse was all over the place. We have to stay at one end of the arena (RI likes to) and so I have to constantly be asking for a turn. I would rather be able to go all the way around the arena just to get used to everything without having to be cuing every few seconds!

Ugh!

I just read something written by Walter Zettl in regards to the danger of the good ride and I think it might transfer to this as well. Your first lesson went really well right?

You can't catch a butterfly with one already in the net.

I was really good in my first lesson. This is the first time we didn't lunge first so maybe that had something to do with it, I don't know. She brought out the whip and I was supposed to be starting with that but it obviously never happened. Yes, I do find that some lessons can be all good or bad so fingers crossed for next sunday.
