Anybody any ideas?

I can't seem to find one anywhere! I ordered one off Robinsons, but when it got here it only had elastic at one end, and yet on the website it said it had it at both ends, so I sent it back without even taking it out for its wrapper!

are you looking for a dressage or gp style?
and do you want atherstone (curved under elbows) or a curved girth?
torsion do some curved dressage girths, neoprene and leather. Robinsons do the curved neoprene ones in the shop for £19.99, the same thing on ebay is about £32.

Really glad you posted Jetstream, a while back I was thinking of getting one of the Robinsons anatomical girths but won't bother if they are elastic at 1 end. Do you need one because your horse has a very forward girth groove? I've been using a humane girth & that seems far comfier when pulled forward than an Atherstone-type (if P's gurning is anything to go by!). I've also seen that Barnsby are doing what they call an ergonomic girth which has a big pad that sits on the sternum, looks smart - however it's about £150!!! It'll need rave reviews for me to even think about parting with that sort of cash....

A GP style girth. It's the zig zag style ones I am after.

My horse doesn't have an overly forward girth groove, but enough to give a bit of a tug on the saddle, plus he hates girths that arent cut away behind the elbows.

The only one I can find now is the Jaguar one, which is nice but a bit pricey, and derby house's one seems to be out of stock :(

I've been looking & thought the Robinsons one was just the job! Haven't seen any others - the Country Logic ones don't seem to be readily available over here. Let me know if you find one please!

Will do! The robinsons girth was nice, but no use with only elastic at one end
I had a look at the Country logic ones, they are nice! I shall keep hunting!

ETA Pessoa do a girth called the 'zig zag' girth, it looks really nice, only comes in oak colour and is a bit pricey at £170! http://www.saddleupinternational.co.uk/pessoa.asp

I got one, it arrived today!! From derby House. Its the shaped Jump Girth. It is elasticated at both ends, although the elastic isn't very stretchy, but it will prob loosen up with use.
The leather is lovely and squishy and padded on the underside. I am very impressed with it, only cost me £45. Hopefully I have bought the right size

I just bought a new Thorowgood girth, and it only has elastic at one end. Is that bad then

I think elastic at 1 end means the girth may not pull evenly along it's length? Something like that. I don't like elastic ones cos they are so easy to overtighten.

I ordered one off Robinsons, but when it got here it only had elastic at one end, and yet on the website it said it had it at both ends, so I sent it back without even taking it out for its wrapper

I was thinking that it might be possible to get a saddler to take the elastic out or put another bit at the other end. Sounds like problem is solved though!

my saddler told me never to use a girth with elastic at one end - she did explain why but i have no memory.

i have the wintec chafeless shaped one. its lovely but she sweats under it.

I've also seen that Barnsby are doing what they call an ergonomic girth which has a big pad that sits on the sternum, looks smart - however it's about £150!!! It'll need rave reviews for me to even think about parting with that sort of cash....I have one and have used it on two mares over the past 18 months to great effect. Flora has had it since she came back into work this time last year. The first mare was quite girthy until I'd used this with her for a month or so, then she stopped worrying. Flora has never been one for pulling faces, but clearly wasn't a fan of being girthed up (she could blow out for England and gave you a look like you were torturing her!). After a time with this girth she settled and now doesn't bother. She carried on blowing out for quite a while (force of habit I think), but she doesn't to any great extent now.

I should add that I have always taken girths up slowly, so any yanking up they experienced was prior to me. Its a hell of a price for a girth, but it does what it says on the tin in terms of horse comfort. I'm less convinced about its ability to prevent saddles from slipping because mine did for a short time when I was using a 'too thick' saddle cloth! That said it was only a couple of inches, maybe it would have been more with a standard girth.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll have to hope P remains happy with the humane girth, I'm not sure that I can afford the Barnsby!! If it makes a big difference to the horse I guess it's worth the money though. When P went through her girthy phase it did seem to put her in a foul mood & I would have cheerfully paid £150 for something that would cheer her up & stop her trying to take chunks out of me!

Has anyone used this girth- it's an Airflex Stud Guard- long version. It looks very like the Barnsby one mentioned but is half the price. Unlike the regular stud guard girths the girth part appears to start in the middle part of the stud guard therefore it should be very comfortable for the horse. I just wonder if it would help with saddle stability. My saddle slips very slightly to the right due to low withers and broad back. The guard is made of EVA (the same as the soles of lightweight UGG boots) so I don't know if this material would slip or maybe not if it has body heat against it? I have yet to find a girth that is perfect for my boy and this may be it... Anyone used or using one at the minute?
