Okay, this one went much better. It turned out that the horse I had been using for the driving lesson (plus my riding lesson) had a sore tooth! And that was why she was acting up.
This time I had my lesson in the round pen with a different horse (Arabian mix). He was super sensitive and responded so well. We worked on walking, trotting, weaving in and out of cones, halt, stand accidentally had a short canter. I felt like I knew what I was doing for the most part. One part I had trouble with was turning across the middle and going through two cones. I think this was because since he was coming off the rail, I couldnt' get behind him when trying to get him to go straight across and so we kind of wobbled across the middle. I could have done this much better if we had not been in the round pen. Not to say it can't be done, but it was hard for me to get the rein pressure right when trying to turn 90 degrees and then go straight.
Next time we may actually get the harness out and go over that!
It was a gorgeous day out (T-shirt weather) and it was fun. I took some apples and carrots to Hunni (!!!) who is now owned by the yard owner. He was standing all messed up in the electric fence wire so my new RI got the wire out and then he got his treats. I couldn't tell if he remembered me or not - and the horse in the next paddock was looking so hopeful for the treats but since I don't know him at all I didn't give him anything.
I will be riding this new horse in my lesson Thursday night - can't wait.
