My horse can be sooo lazy! I've tried everything I know how to do with him. Sometimes he's perfect and is extremly forward going and other times, I'm lucky if I can get him to canter once around the school without almost killing myself. I asked my instructor and she says he's a perfect size for me and that I'm definitly not to heavy for him, so its just down to laziness, how can I get my horse to move forwardly all the time?

Ha! My horse is the exact same...sooo lazy! I wonder why.....
But I think you can try using a whip....or try smacking him on the rump while in the saddle....grr doesn't it make you mad!?

Is he getting enough hard feed for the amout of work he's doing?? i have a cob and we feed him a heating mix becuse he is so lazy but if you're horse cant take oats or a heating mix then when schooling him try lots of upwards and downwards transitions to get him listening to you and this should make him more responsive to your leg signals. Also you may want to carry a schooling whip to back up your leg aids on agood day i can get my lazy cob from halt to canter without effort!

My horse gets the same, mostly when I get slack and haven't ridden him regularly:eek:
