Hey guys im really struggling to decide what to do with live at the moment . I left Bishop Burton College before christam due to the fact i was having problems with my back etc, i recently went to my doctors and told him what yard work we did at college and he told me that i was making my back 10times worse that it already is due to lifting heavy stuff i told Bishop Burton about it and my tutor went "well its not our fault" .

I still want to work with horses and my doctor said i can but lift things correctly and keep an eye on my back, i would love to go to somewhere like Askham Bryan College but the thing is ive told my dad i want to do somthing non horsey and now im torn between the two,

anyone got any idea what i can do?

mmmm I think you need to be very honest with yourself, (maybe you are being so I not accusing you). Did you really leave college 'just' because of your back? Did you not like living away from home, got behind on work, found the practical work too demanding?

Why leave Bishop Burton but then want to go to Askhan Bryan????

I suffered a lot of back trouble whilst having a gruelling working pupil job. Having since been at college also I can say that colleges are far easier on you than 'real' equine jobs.

Also remember this - you may want to work with horses but if you are limited on what you can do how practical is this really - unless you come away from the yard work side of things, which really narrows down your options.

Fill us in with a bit more info on your decisions you have made and maybe we can help you further.

I agree with Gypsygold, colleges are far more lenient(sp??) on you than a real equine job, you would probably be doing more heavy lifting & longer hours too.

You could always consider a different career in horses like a dental technician??

Good luck & let us know how you get on.

You thought about sticking with the horsey theme but doing something like nutrition ie feed sales, or physio course or degree in equine science thats purely theory based.
