Has anyone else every noticed a difference in working with your horse when the person is either wearing eyeglasses or not wearing them? Or, is this my imagination and I am getting better results because I THINK I will?

When I am working with my two on various ground work exercises such as leading, lunging, and long reining, I believe I get a prompter or better response when I have my contacts on. Could eye contact be better for the horse without the distortion caused by glasses? (I have fairly thick lenses). Or, are horses relying on your gestures, verbal commands and the use of the whip, if present, and eye contact makes no difference?

This is probably a stupid question but we're having a slow day here in the office....Thanks!

I always feel more positive riding in contacts rather than glasses. I don't know whether it's because they feel more natural.

I actually started wearing contacts after a couple of nearly-nasty incidents involving falls with glasses on, and I only wear them for riding. Even so, if I forget to put any in I suddenly feel much more ill at ease when I ride.

interestingly enough, when I changed to contacts I had to learn to jump again! I found the fences looked much bigger and nearer and it took weeks to learn my strides again.

I was riding and jump schooling my youngster recently and I had my glasses on after clipping (don't EVER clip with contacts in - its agony!) - firstly it looked an awful long way down and the jump seemd smaller.

I am very short sighted - cannot see the top letter at the opticians!
