Last summer I went off to work at a camp in europe to be their riding specialist. The riding specialist part turned out to be a bit of a joke (I rode about 4 times in a month and it was badly organised and they often sent someone else as it wasn't fair I always got to go  )

Anyway I had to come home early due to being ill (15 hour days takin their toll). I wanted to do something this year, only somewhere else, but am still worried about health problems coming back and as a result being so far from home.

My firend suggested contacting trecking/riding holiday centres in the UK, as they are likely to be extra busy over the summer.

Does anyone know whether places tak eon seasonal staff and has anyone done this??

I've applied for one. My OH has been fantastic and said that he knows how much it would mean to me and what an opportunity it would be and doesn't mind me abandonding him for 2 months!

Have a look at this website http://www.equinetourism.co.uk/ this should tell you where all the approved holiday trekking centres are in the world.

Also check with the BHS about qualifications, some places you need to take a exam/course for taking people etc on hacks, I think its something to do with the insurance...

(if this dont make sense dont worry, I have just done a 14 hr shift!)

Like at the yard I work at you need to be a qualified ride leader to take out rides, but YO often gets some assessor in who will then give the person a 'season pass' so that they can take out rides. Otherwise its poop scooping all day (for which you don't need to have any qualifications).
