Well I think I qualified for Stoneleigh. Novice did not go too well, I had to put his old saddle back as we still have not managed to sort out a new one. I was not worried as I planned try the Novice but give the Elementary my all as it’s the only local qualifier at that level. Plan was then to swap saddles with Chelle as Git goes much better and I ride better in her saddle than his old one.
Anyway Novice was a bit down hill not to much impulsion etc. Chelle did not have a good day the judge hates Zak, he could tap dance down the arena and she still would not score him well. He put in a reasonable test but was really not listening. Chelle came out of the ring and they were calling me for my elementary so no tack swap. We tried our hardest but there was no fooling this judge. I was very pleased as it was only his 4th elementary. Put the boys on the lorry and went to get something to eat. They posted the scores up Chelle did get absolutely slammed in the novice and scored 50% it really was not that bad. I scored 61.2% and came 5th. The first 5 qualify but the secretary would not put out the qualification details as she was not sure if it was 5 seniors and 5 juniors or just the top 5. We are sure it is top 5 in each section but I will have to wait and see if my qualification sheet and rosette come through in the post.
There were 8 in the elementary and I came 7th on 56.4%. The comments were correct though it was not true collected trot it was only a slow trot and my medium was not medium it was only working. My simple change was horrid and the walk to canter not much better. You would not believe what a difference a saddle can make but we had both of them nailed last week in Chelle's saddle.
On Sunday Chelle rode the prelim qualifier, Zak went lovely really settled. Unfortunately the judge did not think so and she scored 56% saying he was against the hand and tense.
