Coughing after drinking?

My horse has started coughing after drinking. He has always had a tendancy to cough if it is very smoky/dusty as he had a tie-back operation when he was younger. We soak his haylage and bed him on straw but now this new coughing has started. Obviously if this carries on we will have the vet out but does anyone have any experience of this or suggestions please?

if the cough is after drinking could be a problem with his swallowing mechanism.

my horse has just gone to the vets today to stay in to have tests because of coughing and breathing problems.

unfortunatly the only thing i can suggest is to get a vet to check him out.
