I attempted to put Bebe out 24/7 (or rather 19/7 as she was being brought in for a couple of hours with hay in the afternoon to start with) last week. She had other ideas though and after reports of her hanging by the gate for half the day, her power walking to the gate one morning when I checked her and then an absolute refusal to budge off the yard on Monday night she's spent the last 3 nights in.
She hardly ate any hay last night so I might attempt to leave her out tonight.
I won't start having her brought in during the day until the grass really picks up and/or it starts to get very hot and buggy.

Probably towards the end of april. It's still quite nippy here at nights, had to scrape the frost off my car at 7am yesterday morning  so the boys will wait a wee while longer until it gets a bit warmer.

some of the more "springly" chaps at our yard are going out over night to play with the pink dragons that chase them in lessons during the day. Needless to say they do not look so springly when they come in the morning.

Mine are still in throu the night and out in the day for two reasons.
1) due to our summer paddocks not yet ready maybe another month or so fingers crossed what with the hard winter and now hardly any rain the grass seems to be growing mega slow!!
2) It does get cold at night, and if the wind is blowing its nasty!! again im hoping in a month or so weather would of picked up a little.

I don't:D !
My TB is out 24/7...........................
Although I always worry when I read these threads that he should be coming in in the heat of the summer or have a fly sheet, or, or, or.................. (but then I always worry :o  )

Mines still in at night, but am thinking of 24/7 as of tommorrow night [fri] as weather forecast good for the weekend here. Will probably still rug up at night depending on the weather. He is clipped but has been out during the day without a rug for the last few days.

Well it was boiling hot today, like summer, but this evening it was quite nippy with a coat on so looks like i'll be waiting a few more weeks. Did have to put fly repellent and a fly rug on Saphy today though.

My TB is still in at night because the summer grazing has been sprayed and we have to wait a few weeks until the ragwort becomes unpaletable and dies. I cant wait!:D
When I brought my horse into his stable the other night I made him stand at the back of his stable to table his head collar off. He then usually turns around and dives his head straight into his feed bucket. The other night when i took his head collar off he turned around and ran straight back out of his stable and back into the paddock and started munching on the grass:rolleyes:
I think the moral of the story is that your horse will tell you when hes ready to live out!
