I know that everyone always says that for showing you should wear a navy hat with a leather harness..

Its just that when I have been looking at pictures on the internet of people riding at big shows, a lot of the riders seem to be wearing brownish tweeds with black hats.. (i am looking at m&m and welsh classes)

Is this just my eyesight - and they are wearing dark navy hats. Or are they wearing black hats ?

any ideas?

it doesn't really matter for M&M, to be honest, i wear a black hat, and i am never the only one wearing one in a class. navy is more traditionally correct for women riders, black for men.

If the jacket doesn't go with a navy hat then I wouldn't wear a navy hat. I would get a brown one probably, or leave a black one in the sun for a while to bleach it. Going through my old photos, black just seems quite harsh to my eyes unless teamed with a black jacket.

I've found quite often the photos of people make them look like they're wearing a black hat when it's actually blue, for example I watched this class, and the vast majority of riders were wearing blue hats, but they look black in the photos

navy hats ususally look black in the photos but when your actually at hte show they're almost always navy, except on men. In welsh classes at the big counties quite a few of the riders will be men.
Navy is the correct colour to have.
