Malting horse! How long until summer coat?

Xena has been malting for a week or two.
Everytime i am up (3 times a week) i give her a good full groom. At the moment this includes a full body massage with the rubber curry comb! After a few circles/strokes there will be a big cluster of her malted hair.
It goes everywhere!
And always seems to stick to me and get in my mouth ... great.

I cant wait for her summer coat to come!

I hope her summer coat will come through before the funride as when i ride alot of hair comes out around the saddle area which must irritate her.

How long do horses usually malt for?
I know its a silly question but i am hating all this hair coming out atm

well my boy has been moulting since about late Jan!! and he's still going! his coat is almost fully through now, you can just faintly see his clip lines, its finally warm enough for him not to wear a rug so he's rolling most of his coat out in the field!

Joy has pretty much stopped shedding now but then her winter coat wasn't much different to her summer coat :rolleyes:

I want mine to loose their winter wollies too. Mine have been moulting for about 3weeks but still have loads left every other day i use a shedding comb and they go out when warm with no rugs so roll lots out but ,their clips are still very visable!!

But a horse on our yard clip is almost gone and he looks stunning ITS NOT FAIR!!
