Just wondering what everyone's routine is once we turnout for the summer?
Logic's currently in every night plus a few days during the week.
She's a poor doer and suffers terribly with diarhoea when she has too much grass and loses condition very easily, but has managed to gain a little weight through the winter and is looking good.
I have the option to keep her in during the day / out at night in the summer this year. This would restrict her grass intake and also protect her little pink nose from the sun.
What's your summer routine and why?

24/7 turnout with a field buddy also out 24/7. Curly loves it (she boxwalks and weaves stabled) and its nice not having any mucking out!

Adam has the in during the day and out at night routine all year round, mainly because I ride him during the day at the weekends, and in my lunch hour during the week.
He also has a pink nose and here we are at the beginning of April and already having to have words about having the suncream on, it's going to be a long summer I fear.

My boy has just been turned out for the summer.
As its still cold at night, I go twice a day to put his rug on in the evening, and take it off again in the morning. He is also having 2 small feeds a day, as he's still growing.
When its really hot in the day, he comes in for a few hours, because theres no shelter in their field.
When its milder at night, I'll just be going once a day:D .
I'm lucky (touch wood). My horse isn't a bad doer, and he doesn't get obese either, so I don't have to worry about the grass:) .
I put human sun tan lotion on his pink bits to stop him burning;)

This is going to be my first summer, so it's going to be "try and error" ;) , my intention is to put them on a field with access to a little forest, so that when it's really hot out, they can hide in the shade, but I'm not too sure how that will go over with the flies??? I may have to end up to keep them in and let them out at night to graze... but I'd rather not... :o
