I was just having a look on the Patchetts website, as I want to do some dressage with Phi soon, and on 28th May classes 1 and 2 are Beginners tests 1 and 4.
This has really confused me, because I thought it started at Prelim? The next two are Prelim classes.
Where can I get hold of the Beginners tests? :)

That's what I thought it might be, but there's no mention of it of the BD website. I'll email Patchetts :)
ETA: Just seen that in tiny writing at the bottom of the schedule it says "Beginners tests send SAE"

beginners test aren't really BD. many places are beginning to include beginner/intro tests and they are simple walk and trot tests. i know people that will start at prelim and if they're horse can't canter at the time they will trot the canter section having already told the judge. you get 0 for the movement but it is good experience and if you feel like a short canter then you don't have to do the whole movement.

Elstead RC (http://www.elsteadridingclub.co.uk/index.htm) (in Surrey) has its spring show that day. No schedule online though, so not sure what they have going on at it.
Also, that's always the day of the Four Winds Showing Show (http://www.vicaragefarm.com/showingshow.html) near Staines, but from their website it looks like it's all affiliated classes. I remember going a few years ago and I have a faint memory that there were other classes too, but maybe they were axed (or I just have a lousy memory!)

thankyou kyanya - had a look at the four winds one - think thats a bit above gyp at the moment with half her winter coat still there, her pot belly and the nice hole in her side where the b*stard horse in the bottom field bit her!! never mind!!
might take her out for a drive in the lorry and go hacking somewhere nice instead!!

There's Thame county show all weekend and on Monday if you fancy a day out, not sure how far it is for you though. There's lots of things there to see!
