Hi all.

I have a hypothetical question about a horse I used to own. He had very tight hamstring muscles and could not step under himself properly. Although he was perfect sound. What sort of exercises would you use to encourage a horse to use his back end and build up his top line?

I’m thinking along the lines of stretches for the hamstring and perhaps trot poles to get him stepping through. But do you have any specific stretches or exercises you have found helpful?

Mouses Chiro recommended that stretch. You can also lift the leg & draw it directly behind him & toward the grond with his toe.

how you doing? I'll give you call later.. off to give Mouse some grass now.

My horsey chiro recomended those ones and also a Ttouch exercise, lift the leg as if to pick the foot out then move the foot in circles of about 8-10 inchs, do 10 laps each way and on each foot :p

I was told to back my horse up 6 steps then forward 6 steps daily as this helps,he may find it awkward at first so take it slowly.
