Cross Country help!

What is cross country riding i have a few ideas what it means but is it when you set off on a horse somewhere and you have to get to somewhere different in the time thats your best.?

cross country riding is basically when you take a horse out of an arena and jump it over natural, solid-type fences in a certain amount of time. it's a part of eventing(show jumping, cross country, and dressage) and i find it a lot of fun. :) it's enjoyable for both horse and rider.

tbjumper pretty much summed it up but if you dont understand it completly you can look it up on http://www.wikipedia.com I dont think searching cross country works, you have to search english riding and then find a link to it through that. Hope I helped!
