Do you use hoof moist and if so when in the year do you start applying it?

I have some, the NAF stuff and used it on Tess's feet when they were shod and am doing so now and again at the moment with the change from wet to dry.

i was wondering the same -ive always had shod horses but now have a youngster that i have just backed. she has never been shod and i want to keep her barefoot as long as possible - she had her first trim the other day and feet are in good condition - should i put hoof moist on them now its drier??

Alex gets awfully crakced hooves during summer, i use hoof moist and it helps alot! Rather than huge cracks we only get small nicks :)

I would use hoof moist connieD :)

i apply it roughly 2 times a day when its really hot mid summer. will start to apply mid may probably, our ground isn't completely dry yet and their hooves are fine :)

I was advised to use Hoof Moist after the farrier visit...When he has trimmed up and shaved round the hoof it takes away the protective barrier on the hoof apparently. So I use the Hoof Moist to put some protection on before I turn him out.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply. :)

I have decided to strt using it now.

We are in the rediculous situation of being a bog in winter because we are on clay but when it starts to dry out it does so very quickly. Added to that the field has just been harrowed and rolloed so it looks a bit like a desrt out there and I can now see the canges in her frog and sole more than the hooves.

at least your field has been rolled. my parents don't have a roller and haven't had time to ask the farmer to do it for us... i suspect out VERY BUMPY ground is now too dry to roll  and its the field i ride in and we get hay off it... parents

if the ground is very dry (and clay-ie) then yes i think you're right to put on hoof moist.

Have started now, twice a day. Also use summer moist by nettex, that has helped too.

hi, im really confused now-see my horse has had cracked heels for the past few years in summer months, and i had started using naf aswel. my farrier now tells me it is better to leave them and not apply anything as he says hard feet on hard ground is ideal  can anyone suggest what i should do??
Laura.

Camrosa ointment (check out magazine ads and google for it) speaks for itself: truly amazing stuff!
