Yep, it was an interesting interview with lots of good advice in it. I had to listen real hard to catch what he was saying to begin with though, because of how fast he speaks - but after a short while I got the hang of it. :D

I like Clinton Anderson because he's very clear and practical. It's interesting that he says in the clip that people are drawn to trainers because of personality rather than techniques. I'm anything but clear and practical around horses -- it's all just a fuzz of confusion and not knowing what to do. And I'm not clear enough in my directions to them -- again, too fuzzy. So I suppose I like Clinton because he's the opposite -- I love the whole Black And White, No Shades Of Grey thing, because it's exactly what I'm lacking myself (in my dealings with horses, at least).

I own all of the clinton anderson "control and Confidence on the ground" dvd's as well as the "Riding with Confidence video's" and the "starting weanling and colts" video's.. I just gotta say that there are not very many resources for trainers where I live in Alaska, so I am totally "Clintonized".. I agree with his principal's, have used the techniques myself, and a lot of the things that he does are very simular to techniques I used for years on wild mustangs.... This year I will be teaching his techniques to my 4-H kid club to make the kids better on the ground before they ride... I have one simple thought when it comes to kids and horses and that is, "if you cant control a horse on the ground, then you have no business in the saddle". I start all of my kids that way, and all of my horses that way. It works for me.
