Hi, I am a very novice rider living in Manchester. I am, however, going to be in North Dorst over the Easter Holidays and Summer holidays. My husband comes from there and we visit a lot. I will be in the area between Blandford and Shaftesbury. Does anyone know of anywhere around that area where I could go riding on horses to suit my limited ability?? Or does anyone come from around there who would like some very willing but somewhat unskilled help? Hope to hear form you soon.
Sue.

Hi Sue

I have had a look through Yellow Pages. One place I came across is the Grovely Stables (01722 742288) at Wilton (NW of Salisbury). I used to have a horse on loan there. They have an ENORMOUS sand school and very good hacking round there. I can't comment on the types of horses they had there as i was only there a short while. Another place I found in the Yellow Pages (but I know NOTHING about) is Tollard Park Equestrian Centre (01725 516249).

If you fancy a slightly longer drive, the best place is Owslebury (pronounced osselbury) Equestrian Centre (where I keep my horse). Their phone number is 01962 777453. They have super school horses that are very sensible and responsive. The school is a really good sand and rubber mix (comfy to fall on!) and the hacking round there is SUPERB. The prices are sensible too.

Hope that helps!
