Could anyone give me their views and advice on loose droppings and supplement intolerance?
My mare is a good dooer, and I'm wondering if I have overloaded her diet and if this could be the reason her droppings have been very loose lately? She has "at grass mix", unsweetened chaff, zephyr vet powder (respiratory), and one Bute per day. I have also recently changed from Farriers Formula to Cornucrescine, and have been giving her Cortaflex. She also has a couple of carrots per day, plus haylage.
She has rarely had this problem in the past, which is why I'm wondering if the change from Farriers, plus the addition of Cortaflex could be the reason, rather than the new grass, and too rich haylage, although I'm willing to accept the grass and haylage could be the culprits.
For the time being she will be having soaked hay rather than haylage, and I'm cutting out some of her supplements, starting with the Cortaflex, to see if that makes any difference, plus the carrots, but I would be grateful for any comments or advice from anyone who has tackled this problem with their own horses, and what helped, as quickly as possible please, as I'm a bit worried about her, although she seems pretty well.
One other thing - the yard wormer has been changed. Could this be a problem also?
Many thanks
