I might be taking on a new loan - Diamond, a sec D 15hh black cob. She has done showing before when she was younger, but after that she did XC and so her legs are full of lumps and bumps - not preferred in the show ring!

What else could I do with her though? Veteran?
And what other classes are there and what do they involve? e.g handy pony

And also what could I have as a show name? She used to be called Diamonds Are Forever but I don't know, it feels a bit cheesy! :p

When you say lumps and bumps what are they like? splints? The showing world may not be the best place for her if her legs are that bad but if it's only mild then she'll be alright at local level.

There's m+m classes, family pony, pony club pony, clear round jumping, prettiest mare, other novelty classes- (best mane and tail, most appealing eyes etc) Also handy pony and gymkhana games. I'll think of some more later! :D

Ooo forgot working hunter classes, there's often workers classes for m+m's! She'd be good at that if she's done XC type jumping!

I would only be competing her at local level anyway - i'm not a competitive person so i would probably break down if i went any higher! :D
They aren't really bad, her legs, just have a few scars from scrapes and stuff, so nothing serious!
I just wanted an idea of things I could do with her,planning it now so when summer comes I will be sorted, shows are only a 15 min hack away as well *faints with happiness*

How old is she? White hairs where they shouldn't be can be covered up and if she's older they expect a few bumps.

Class wise you can do;
M&M inhand/ridden/working hunter
Working hunter pony or horse depending on the split (pref only if no M&M wh)
Tack and turnout
Equitation
Riding club horse/pony
Veterans if she's eligible

Avoid best condition, and you are not eligible for riding horse classes.

Most of the classes involve w/t/canter as a group, then in an individual show. In WH you jump a course of jumps first, and in RCP you're usually expected to jump a single jump. Inhand classes you walk as a group, then trot to the back of the group, then line up and trot out for the judge.

If she's registered then that's her show name. If she isn't, check the schedule allows you in the M&M classes, but you can call her whatever you want.

Basically, DD means - is she old enough? VHS affialiated classes require the horse to be at least 15, although this varies at non-affiliated events.

Is she a registered Section D? If she is, then this will be her show name, eg Nebo Daniel, or Coednewydd Gigolo, or .. whatever DD's pony is. :D

Ah thankyou! That cleared it up a bit! I think she is 16/17 so she passes the veteran test :)
Not sure if she is registered, will check when I ride on sunday. Does that matter in local shows if she is registered but uses a different name?

Different local shows may have different age boundaries but it'll probably tell you in the schedule etc. I think 16/17 would almost certainly be alright though :) Good luck :D

I think the average age for veterans is 15 years and older. So you should be OK :)

If she isn't registered and you wanted to change her name, I quite like Diamante Fever!
