Temprement, average height. What are they good at etc? What would be an average price for a 10 month filly? :)

Assuming you mean Trakehners.
Usually 16hh+, lighter framed and more refined than many of the WB breeds. High proportion of Arab and TB introduced into the German Trakhs before the studbook was closed to other breeds. Russian Trakh studbook is not closed and they have a policy of breeding in alternately Arab and TB every third generation. Make better eventers (Godington Hannibal is Advanced and has produced very good offspring) than other WB breeds and are usually fairly decent at dressage. Not so reknowned for SJing.
Temperament is variable, some very equable, good work ethic BUT equally some bloodlines can be fairly sharp and hot - 'professional ride' comes to mind. Hannibal (mentioned above) is known for good temperament and physical talent in his offspring, Va Tout (elite GP dressage stallion) is known to have generally hotter offspring, albeit talented. My trainer has a Russian Trakh mare that she imported (she's now a broody due to a fractured pedal bone) - Elita is pretty hot to ride but a perfect darling to handle and has really nice foals, her last one by an Arab is being retained as a stallion prospect.
ETA price - depends on breeding, Hannibal foals around £4K+ last I saw.

i personally think Trak's are fab, but most i've met are not for everyone! All of mine have been very sensitive. My friend breeds them and she looks for about 7, 000 for a yearling

trakehners!! just a word of caution, they do have a reputation of being a tad nutty and highly strung at times :)

Its a filly on my yard that a lady had from her mare but the mare is due again and wants a quick sale. Sweet little black thing. I will find out more on breeding etc tonight and post it up and see what you think. I would want it for sj and eventing mainly but thats a good 3 yrs off before I even start!
Another lady i spoke to said she didnt think it was registered.
ETA- hmmm maybe not if they are generally highly strung. She is nervy but is only young so would expect it atm.

My only ' dealings' with trakeners was when we bought a young ( 5yo) for a spare carriage driver.
He was also crossed with a Sec A !!! ( accident!)
Beautiful boy, but was really wimpy, and very highly strung. A strong chap who grew to about 14.2 but just couldnt get through to him as a driving pony.
To be ridden he was superb! Very gutsy and forward going.. but not for the faint hearted!! ;) :D

my friend had one as a youngster that she wanted to bring on to event, he was a total sweetheart to handle, but oh boy when you got on him  one minute he would be going fine next minute he would be doing the biggest bucks you have ever seen and would never stop until he had decked you. It was a shame because when he was behaving he looked amazing. His brother and sister apparently were the same, in the end she could not cope any more as she was losing all her confidence and had to sell him, and she has sworn never to have another trakehner

they are great horses, i've found it takes a while to strike up a bond with them but once you do they are great! But they are pretty sensitive and the smallest thing can set you back. Yet they love to work and as a result pick up new things very quickly!!i think Trakehners are addictive, once you have had one you are hooked! They are just "very nice people", so willing to please and a pleasure to own. :D
