Dartanion & me entered a sliver Buckle high point series. I entered 5 English classes for 14-17 (I'm 18 but only as of march this year so still 17 in the show world lol). Dartanion got 1st in all of them!!! I'm so proud of him. We were alone in two classes so I didn't feel like we really "won" but in our other three classes were real competition! We also wont the 14-17 English daily high point!! I'm so proud of D! I'm not sure but we might have gotten over all Daily high point for 14-17 because there were only 3 western classes but it was getting late so we had to leave. I'll post pics asap I just wanted to tell everyone how proud I am of how hard D worked today .
I also posted this in General, sorry just so excited and proud of him.

OK crappy news, The pics we took from the show can't be posted because we didn't have a memory card in the camra  oie. I promise to get pics from the next show coming up in May :). I wanted to ask, When the judges talk to the riders after the shows they tell me a lot to see if I can get more of a trot out of D. He's really laid back and when I asked him to wake up it feels like a sloopy fast trot and i'm sure that doesn't look good. Any help with waking up my lazy boy? lol

Well done! Even if two were empty, you still won 3/3, so high chances you could have won the other two against competition. ;)

To get more of a trot, you need to first get him listening to you. Do lots of transitions, as this will get him listening, but also help him to work better so he can give you more of a trot.

Once he is moving between walk/trot as soon as you ask, then you can start asking him for more impulsion in his trot. You need to have some contact so the impulsion doesn't go straight out the front, and he needs to be working through from behind to give you that impulsion.

You may get better answers in training of the horse, or do a search for "impulsion" threads, as I'm still learning the knack of this myself!
