Following on from the which jacket thread, I bought the Caldene Belvoir, with the intention of stopping growing at some point this year and then getting the first jacket M2M for next season when we're actually going to show seriously again.

It's a little big, but as I'm filling out like a yo-yo (having "fat and slim" days!) I wasn't getting the size smaller that fit on the day. ;) So I'm sorted for the tie and shirt (although I haven't bought the shirt yet) but will need a waistcoat.

This is the jacket. Shirt will be cream, tie is gold with small navy and cream horses.

Obvious choice for the waistcoat is gold, but I wonder if there's too much yellow then, with the cream shirt as well, so I thought maybe a navy waistcoat - would match my hat and the horses in the tie. Thoughts?

Sorry I dont know much about what you need for showing attire, but if you have bought that jacket, and you are keeping that jacket done up, you wouldnt even see a waistcoat, so do you need one with it?

To be honest, I’m not the keen on them, and personally I don't wear one. To my eyes they just add an extra layer in Summer- making you hotter and more uncomfortable, without adding much to the picture. However I think there more popular in m+m's (seeing as our not loud colour any where else), so if you want one desperately (especially seeing as your getting a different jacket next year- and a different waistcoat may go better with this jacket- is it the one with the red over check?), I think I'd go for navy- would look smart, with the keepers tweed, and tie everything in nicely.

Yellow or cream check are the traditional colours for going with tweed, I personally think that blue looks too dark, and red a bit too flashy, but green can look nice with the right outfit.

When I'm wearing a waistcoat with tweed, it's a yellow one.

Have you considered a false waistcoat? I have had false waistrcoat points made up for my Mears cutaway. So much easier and cooler and of course you can chop and change your colours with ease and far less expense.

Sorry, totally unhelpful, but could you send me a link for the jacket, prefferably with a fabric swatch photo - the reason being that my jacket had to be cut off my broken shoulder last week, and I loved it, and this looks similar (it was Caldene, brown and green herringbone but not properly herringbone, if you know what I mean at all). I have been to all the local shops and they dont have one the same. They are all either properly rough herringbone material, or have an overcheck, or velvet collars, and I want a plain one.
