Hi
It's become apparent that I've got a bad habit of collapsing through my left hip. General thinking is that a wonky fitting saddle (horse has less muscle on right hand side so I felt like I was constantly tipping to the right and had to put extra weight in my left stirrup) and a wonky horse have conspired to make me over compensate and this is what has created the problem.
I've had a few weeks off riding and sat on a friends horse last weekend. I could feel with her when I collapsed through the hip as she veered off the track, which was really helpful. At the end of a 20 minute session I think I'd got it sussed, or at least the horse didn't veer around anymore.
I also rode Bebe at the weekend, bareback. We went up and down hills, jumped logs (not intentionally, we were supposed to step over them) and crossed streams. I kept my balance for the whole ride and the blanket I was sat on didn't slip to the left at all so I think I'm making progress. I'm also have an alexander technique style instructor come out to help me but that won't be for a few weeks yet.
In the meantime, are there any exercises I can do to help overcome this problem?
Thanks
Amanda
