I did not think I would, did not think I would ever think about riding again. But I am...though only on my grey squirrel aka the Icelandic Dyfra.(know it is not possible to find an older Grandma horse in my area)
Still can't walk far and if I push myself...then I am barely able to walk at all for a couple of days.
But here I am, slumped in bed...looking outside to looks like will be a nice day. And missing riding my grey squirrel in the woods with every thing starting to bloom. Fresh clean smell of the woods and the tiny wild birds flittering about. Feeling her super smooth tolt. (yes..leaving out her nutter behavior,,but she has never hurt me)
Am aiming for July...I want to at least be able to walk out to the round pen on my own....even if I have to use the walker.
Well..thank you for letting this gimp ramble!:D
I know many here would understand what I am going through.

Oh please don't call yourself a gimp! You're not and you know it....

Great to hear that you are starting to miss riding again.... but don't push for it too quickly as you could only set yourself back.... you are well over halfway there now.... in the meantime, do some more painting - you're BRILL at that!!! :D

(((hugs)))

 awww sweeite that is so sad, i know how you feel but in a different way. i have not ridden since 2005 in may (a yr after i had my little boy and about 4mths before i fell pregnant with my little girl) i am not able to ride right now but that is down to no money and no decent yards around here :( i sold my last horsey Monty a while back and it was very sad for me :(

not a day goes by i don't just so wish i could go out for a lovely hack through the farmland again, i would give almost anything to go out and have a relaxing time with my OWN horse

i know that time will come again, it is just waiting until then really ;)

see you will be riding again on day soon as you said ;) jsut stay positive hunni! it wil happen

I dont know why you cannot ride but i think i have a similar problem to you and i do know how you feel. I havent ridden for ages because my medical problems have got too bad and im waiting for an ankle replacement... i have spina bifida and some foot problems which came with it.. i may never sit on a horse again but its important never to let go of your dreams. I use a mobility scooter because I cannot walk far. Im only 17 but I feel 100 haha. But like I said If you keep trying you will eventually make those dreams come true. Dont ever give up. I understand the whole sitting in bed thing too... i send a lot of time watching others do what i can only dream of. I miss riding and the horse I loved. But i think it makes you a stronger person. When you ride again you will appreciate it more than anybody and it will be realli special. youll get there, good luck x

Thanks everyone. Will be awhile yet..and yes..will keep myself busy with painting!!:D

Gems I came off my horse last Dec..due to an Elastic girth. Broke my lower back and other places..had a lot of damage. Not healing like I should be.
Sorry to hear you are restricted in what you can do too. Is always hard watching the world go by.
I try not to think about how things were and what I was able to do.
Try to be happy at what I can do..as little as that is. Hubby says it could of been much worse and he is right.
Have lots and lots of plans.. wither I will be able to do them?? Maybe in time. Guess it is the painting..friends here and making plans that are keeping me going!!
