Is it normal??

Is it normal for a horse grunt whilst pooing?
When Katey has a poo, she grunts almost as if she is pushing it out.Although she seems fine when doing it,she even canters and poos.
What do you think it could be?
She has done it the entire 5 years we have owned her.

i wouldnt worry if your horse has always done it! my one horse occasional grunts whilst pooing and he is perfectly healthy. If you are worried though then ring your vet to see what they think.

have a conversation with your friends about toilet habits.. (oops, I have) and you will find that everyone does things differently. Mine grunts occasionally so each to their own. Mine 'sneezes' differently to any horse I know.. it's just him!

If consistency seems okay, and she's overall fine, I wouldn't worry about those little expressions of satisfaction.
