Hi,

well some of you may have read my thread on Jerrys feet probs.

that aside, on Thursday night i tacked him up picked out his feet, took him out of the stable, picked out his feet again as he had stood in poop:rolleyes: and the noticed.....he had twisted his shoe and nails were hanging out here there and everywhere! i was gutted as it meant i couldnt have my lesson and that particular shoe had only been on him for 6days:eek:

So jerry spent the next day waiting patiently for the local farrier to arrive (couldnt get mine up as they live far away) who was due up to collect money anyway...

Saturaday, he still hasn't appeared and YO is able to get the wayward nails out but if he attempted to get the shoe off then the hoof would follow!YO advises me not to turn him out and only to walk him in the school. So i ride for 30mins in walk, working on our circles etc.

By sunday farrier still hasnt arrived and jerrys friend vik also looses a shoe. jerry is now so hyper he cant be ridden and so i walk him to a patch of grass for him to graze and then he lets me do some ground work.

Monday comes and yes, you guessed it, farrier still hasnt appeared!jerry is now stressed out so i let him have go in the round pen before beginning my groundwork and then let him graze in the wind and rain!

His feet are so sensitive that he needs attention asap as he always bruises that hoof when he has shoe "issues".

I'm just annoyed that i am so dependant on this guy and he just keeps letting us down. A vet would never leave a horse that long without attention, why should a farrier? i am calling my farriers in the morning with the hope that they can come and see him and if the other farrier appears then thats his loss!

Its only a 5 min job, well 10 with viks shoe - thats a quick £30, so whats the problem!!!!

The problem is that they can only be assed doing lots of horses for more money. Your horse is just a cheap job but they dont seem to realise what problems they cause the owners. I have been through this many times myself
