I can't really imagine why a vet would recommend corn oil specifically ? Corn oil really isn't the best sort of oil for horses. But you just get it from the grocery store... supermarket - it's just the oil you use for frying.

Thanks Katewooten, its becuase he's recovering from sand colic which nearly finished him, the vet has stated that he must be on Topline, alfa A, small amount of beet, sand out and a full cup of Corn oil, i have had a look at Morrisons and they only sell vegetable or sunflower and i'm not sure which is the most like Corn oil, i think i'll go with Sunflower if there's no major diffference just wanted to see if anyone else had managed to get hold of some / or what they'd use instead :)

Tesco and Sainsbury's definitely sell corn oil as do most supermarkets (but obviously not Morrisons  ).

I read the label on the vegetable oil in Icelands, and it's made from Rapeseed oil, so I avoid that one.
I use sunflower oil too.
I've never come across corn oil in this country, but we must have it, surely?

Thanks Peanut, i'll take a trip to Tesco and Sainsbury's see what they've got :)
Thanks Odyssey - its madness, it says vegetable oil so you think cool, thats the one then once you've read the ingredients its a no no.
Do you think there may be another name it comes under, am i asking for the right thing ?

no, corn oil is not the bets oil for horses . . . though i can't for the life of me remember why?! is it deficient in something? cause one? something like that anyway.
the best possible oils availiable are flax (linseed) and soya oil, both of which can be bought from Global herbs (very good quality from there in particular). fab stuff :-)

I use corn oil and I buy it by box of fifteen form Lidls for about 11 or 12 quid. It's very palatable and it's the only oil I can get Kia to take!!!
I have tried others and corn oils is one of the better ones and I can really see the difference when feeding it!!!
No hyperness tho which is a good thing!!!!

Mazola ! that's it, I knew there was a brand name. I'm feeding sunflower oil to mine ... I'm a bit hesitant to use canola ( = rapeseed oil), or vegetable oil (= unspecified source so probably corn or rapeseed whichever's cheapest at the time).

Tesco's are No.1 i have finally found the stuff! That gets the vet off my case... I've looked at the Soya oil and that does sound good stuff, i'll see how we go with this and maybe look at the Soya when we're back to health.
Thanks to all who's helped
Most appreciated
