Hmmmmmmmmm, i think im going to get the vet anyways but thought id get some ideas first :) (curlys not getting a weekend call-out for slight lameness!!).

Since the wurly-horse has had her pelvis put back where it belongs in Febuary i've been bringing her into work slowly, one month of long and low walk, long and low walk and abit of trot and as of last week we're working on canter again - First few times I asked for canter she bucked - i just put it down to WOOOOO CANTER! but now im not too sure.

She's been stumbling, not badly but definatly tripping (i assumed it was related to being shod after a 1.5 years) and when i ask for canter it seems like such an effort and she breaks back into trot quickly (very very unlike her - normally she bowls along gathering speed going WHEEEEE) and also runs into an awful unbalanced fast trot when asked to canter.

I wasnt toooo concerned (presumed it was just because she has no muscle after using herself wrongly due to her pelvis for months) but someone else rode yesterday and said she was lame on the right rein in trot so i promptly abandoned college and trotted her up - somethings not right, she drags her back end and doesnt pick her feet up - like a person shuffling their feet and she goes from nowhere near tracking up to overtracking badly (but then again she usually overtracks).

Any ideas? - im going to ask very nicely for a pessoa to try and get her back end built up.

wow - that ended up quite long! sorry!

non-horsey dads just been to take her rainsheet off and told me she didnt look right (i hadnt told him i was worried so even he realised somethings not right), so it looks like the vets out on Monday :(

*sigh* poor horsey, we were just getting going with riding and having fun together again and now this happens - she really needs her exercise keeping up with all the grass.

Aww no :( Poor Curly! And poor you! I bet she's just been batting around the field and twisted something, hopefully it's nothing worse...

aww I'm so sorry! Keep your chin up and think positive. It could just be a little passing soreness?

similar thing happened to my horse when i bought him, called the vet who said he was slightly off but couldnt put a finger on what was causing him to be slightly lame. I got my friends partner out who tends to backs, teeth etc, he came out said his vertabrae was out of allignment, so he fixed it and told me to invest in a new saddle which i did. Maybe when her pelvis was corrected it has moved something else or her shape has changed and saddle not best fit if shes bucking like my lad done. Fingers crossed for you

Poor Curly, but she might just have tweaked something minor so fingers crossed it's nothing serious. If the vet's a bit baffled at least you have a really good chiro you can call in if you need to. All the best from me & P!

thanks :)
im sure its not the saddle causing bucking as it was fitted a month after her back treatment and has had the proper checkups etc etc.

vets coming out this week.

ok...so today she's fine

I dunno what to do now, we really cant afford the vet if she doesnt need one and judging by the way she carted me round the field at a spanking trot shes not in pain, just heavily on the forehand. would a pessoa help? she was reccomended one when i checked up with the back lady about the strange behaviour. v experienced lady on my yard had a look and said her back end looks very very weak compared to the front.

i think its muscular now....
