Mikey had his back shoes removed a couple of weeks ago as he was reluctant to pick his back feet up because of his mud fever. Now he is picking his feet up fine and I'm going to get the farrier out to put shoes on, but that will mean his back and front shoes will need doing at different times

Was looking at his feet and wondering if he will be able to wait another three or so weeks to have shoes put on - what do you think?

I wouldn't leave his feet for another 3 weeks. If I were you I'd have them trimmed now and wait say, another 4 weeks to get him shod and by that time, he should be ready for another trim as well. However on saying that, it depends how quick his feet grow. If you feel he can wait 3 weeks ....... but personally I wouldn't.

Pics are too small to see much really. If he's sound and has been for the 2 weeks without shoes and you aren't planning a big increase in how much work he's doing over the next 3 weeks then 3 weeks without back shoes wouldn't be a problem. If you feel he needs shoes right now then you should be able to figure something out like do the backs early or late next time(depending on what your farrier thinks is best) to get backs and fronts needing doing at the same time again.

The best person to ask is your farrier as the pics are kinda hard to see and your farrier is a professional.
