I never knew how much fun ponies are! I have been riding the RDA ponies at the yard I volunteer at and I can't get over how different they are from the horses I'm used to - so nippy and nimble. It's like the difference between driving a people carrier and a Fiesta!:D
Hopefully I'm going to start schooling these ponies once a week so much more to look forward to (provided I pass the riding test of course).
One of them is for sale - is 5'8" and 11st7 too big for a 14hh pony? (I'm thinking I just might be...) Pipe dreams:rolleyes:

As stated on this forum loads of times previously, it depends on the type/build/conformation/bone/density/age of pony + ability of rider:) . In theory a 14 hand well put together chunky type will carry you with ease, but then so would a 13h icelandic who may not look as chunky but are extreemely strong. But i agree, pony riding is loads of fun:D

If the pony for sale is an RDA pony then it will most probably be a good weight bearer as it will have needed to have taken unbalanced beginner riders, who tend to ride heavily anyway. Therefore I think you should be ok on this pony, maybe talk to the RDA instructor about it (if the pony is an RDA pony) and ask him/her how much weight the pony can take (all RDA ponies have to have their maximum rider weight worked out and stated - although if you are an experienced rider you'll be able to get away with being a little heavier as you'll ride lighter than inexperienced riders), it'll give you an idea though whether the pony will be suitable for you!
