Hi!

I have yet another question, this time perhaps a little more difficult ...

Years and years ago I fell in love with Finnhorses; this school close to our place had three of them and I remember them as patient, strong and dependable but with a lot of character.

Now that I've taken up riding again, I have been trying to find info on the breed but it's extremely hard to come by. It seems they're pretty rare outside Finland and Germany (?). Whilst I'm looking for more information, I was wondering if any of you people had any experience with Finnhorses; I'd like to know whether they really are as wonderful as I seem to remember
and whether there are any breeds that resemble the Finnhorse.

Does any of you know anything about the breed?

Thanks once more!

The following web sites could be useful:

http://www.ansi.okstate.edu/breeds/horses/finnhors/index.htm
http://www.helsinki.fi/~sarja/finnhor.html

hope that helps

I've just come across this page which has an article - look in the native ponies section.

I now read somewhere that, in terms of their temper, Finnhorses are similar to other Scandinavian native breeds.

Does anyone know what that might suggest?
