My horse has developed cracked heels. They arent that bad at the moment, bu obviously dont want them to get worse.

I was reading the BHS Stable Management to check up that I was correct in using the barrier cream, but what kind is the most effective. Dont want to go ahead and use anything that doesnt work.

Thanks in advance.

my mare didn't have cracked heels but mud fever and i used nettex muddy marvel barrier cream.. is really think but very effective. it treats mud fever, helps stop any more bacteria and my mare no longer has mud fever even though she was out in boggy ground 24/7. cracked heels are similar to mud fever hence my recommendation.

I got a free tub of carr and day martin heel cream once and that was very effective too :)
