Do you like it, love it, hate it ?
Any problems or otherwise with it?

dont have one but ive ridden in one on the flat. Looks very very similar to leather and i had no idea it was the T6 until i was told.
seemed nice enough to ride in but its the only close contact ive ever ridden in so i cant really compare.

Thanks CWR, they are very like leather arent they I was suprised.

I tried the T6 GP yesterday but the 17" is not long enough for me, the saddler said I'm long in the thigh, (I think another part of my anatomy might be more the problem:rolleyes: ).

I found the seat too small/deep in the GP and my knees were quite forward on it but we couldnt go to the 17 1/2" because 17" is the limit that poor old Fred can carry. The jump saddle was recomended by her because it has a flatter seat and with forward cut knees it would solve both my problems (long thighs & big ass!) in one without resorting to a longer saddle for Freds sake. However I do mainly hacking so just seems a bit odd getting a jump saddle really, but if its the best compromise I suppopse.

I tried riding in one and I loved the fact it looked so much like leather and was reasonably priced. I decided against it though because for some reason (it may just be me and I am quite short!) I felt my legs were forced out so it felt like my Tb was a cob! Don't know if that makes sence :o and its probs just me lol!
Anyways I thought it was ok on flat but not overly secure but than I had just ridden in a saddle with a v deep seat! and I jumped in it and loved it! So I'd say its brill for what its designed for (jumping) and a good saddle for your money but then everyone likes diff saddles.

Hope my rambling has helped in some way :)

p.s I hope it is the jumping saddle you were talking about! :o I'm pretty sure it is :)

yes it is the jumping saddle I meant, thanks for your input, just the sort of thing I'm looking for.

I'm so undecided what to do. I really wanted the T4 because I like the suedette seat but my bum wont fit and they dont do a T4 jump saddle:rolleyes: .

Thing is the saddle would be specially ordered for me so unless it really didnt fit the horse or me want to turn round and say I dont like it if I can help it.
Did you think it looked particularly forward cut on the horse? I looked at the older griffin showjumper this morning in the tack shop and it doesnt look much diffrent to the standard griffin GP.

Forgot to ask, do you mean you jumped in the T6 and loved it? Can you elaborate why?

At the moment I am using an older 17" Falcon saddle which doesnt have a lot of knee roll and quite a flat seat, it is not really suitable even for my meanderings around the country side. If he spooks (inexperienced horse) he spins 180 degrees in 0.6 seconds and I spin straight of the front of the saddle. Twice in the last month I have found myself straddled round his front legs looking up his nostrils:rolleyes: (A bit like the tablecloth trick - if you pull it out fast enough everything else stays where it was). Last time was in the water jump - luckily I saw the funny (but rather wet)side. Maybe some good jumping knee rolls would help!

gosh was suprised to see this one up again! Oh well I guess I may as well update on my dilemma.

In the end my son got a 16 1/2" thorowgood robert whitaker jumping saddle (griffin model). Being a flatter seat I fit in it fine too.

Unfortunately Fred grew out of it width wise (quite narrow) and so I then got the thorowgood pony club t4 saddle 161/2" xw with fish. I love this saddle as much as the above one. Love the suedette seat it is so comfy and warm.

As my main problem was short backed horse and big bummed rider I would recomend the thorowgood jumping or ponyclub saddles. Both have a flatter seat and so can accomodate a larger than usual rider. I usually need at least a 17" saddle.

CurlyWurlyRach - probably doesnt help you much. I was very impressed with the T6 model I saw particularly the leather girth straps which I prefer. Also the saddles do look like leather even in close up. Personally I love the sueddette seat of the T4 or griffin model though.
