Hives

I have a 12 year old quarter horse mare. I have not changed feed at all! Have not tried insect repellents, shampoos, etc. same routine, just different day. All of the sudden she broke out in hives around her neck area. No one else just her. What would cause this. She has an excellent appetite, drinks lots of water, is energetic, she's alert, bright eyes, shiny coat. I'll be grateful to any ideas. Thans

okay, she may have an allergy to something that you use. Or bug bites (if you have them right now)... Or sometimes, do you know how poeple can develop allergies? Well, in horses it can be the same thing, they can develope an allergy to something that you use.

Thank you Medalia, I was a bit puzzled, why it started happening. The weather hasn't been cold enough for bugs, therefore, I hadn't put any bug spray on. The only thing was, she developed an allergy. Thanks for the advice
