Gunk???????

Hi Peeps

I watched Kia do a peepee today and he has a funny stripy 'zebra' appendage :rolleyes: and I'm used to brown icky gunk but this stuf was yellow!!!

I got quite woriied and tried to clean it but he was having none of it and decided to bite me on the bum. He usually stand for it to be cleaned but he spent today in the stable so he was dying to go out and gallop about the park.

Should I clean it if possible or should I call the vet?? It didnt appear to be infected looking or swollen but I was a bit worried about the 'cheesy' appearance and the thickness of it.

How sick am I but I'm a bit anxious about it.

I'm probabaly just paniking about this as I am about Lami and Grass Sickness but I am a total worrier but would like some info on this please!!!

I suspect it's just dead skin & general crustiness. My old horse's 5th leg was pink & used to have horrible yellow stuff on it quite often. I asked the vet once how often I should clean it & she reckoned most people over-clean up there. She recommended cleaning when it gets a bit smelly or overly cruddy but not before! I'd clean it at a quiet moment when his highness is feeling co-operative, but don't worry, it doesn't sound at all alarming to me!
