Kate is comeing tommorrow to give me my lesson its been a while since i posted on here.
Ella has calmed down the vet did come out but was not much help he said that there is something he could give her but it cost alot of money and he only really uses it for poeple that are going to a show and they know there horse will be in season. He said see how she is next time as the first season are always bad.
He also had a look at bess as she has not been very sound at the moment i did have to get permission from the owner as she is not mine. The vet says she has laminitis and needs box rest no short feed and he gave me bute for her when i did speak to her owner he said he does not think she has laminitis and to turn her out in the mud fields.
Wish me good lucky

Well as i said she is not mine so i have to do what he wants her owner.
And he wants her out he say he would rather her have 6 months good life than to be stuck in a box.Bess is 31 we think maybe a bit older the vet did say she should have a xray but the owner does not want that.

Hope desperately then that the vet was wrong and she doesn't have laminitis.

Good luck for tomorrow Eve, don't foget to let us know how you get on with the lesson. :)
If bella has got laminitis as the vet diagnosed, and her owner isn't prepared to do anything about it....the poor horse will definately not have a good life for six months (she possibly won't even survive that long without treatment)!!!

Good Luck:) Hope all goes well. I can understand what the owner says about box rest but if the fields are very muddy it would be advisable to put boots on the horse as thats what they do with the ponies with laminites at the farm when its very muddy top help them through and they always do fine;)

Had my lesson and to be honest it was alot to take in.Ella was such a good girl she really took well to having the halter and rope she didnt mind it over her back.
Is it normal to feel like something was missing i suppose i wanted her to say here is a magic wand just blow on it and your dreams will come true which would be to ride ella with out the fear of her playing up.
She did teach me how to stop ella from trying to pull away and about my space.I did feel like we had an audience the people that were on the yard were watching and the yard owners girlfriend was watching from there home.
When i did speak to a girl that works there said what was all the arm moving and leg movement i try to explain but she did'nt get it.Kate did say that i should not ride ella untill i am confident on the ground and that if i feel safe riding other horses i should a friend on the yard who has a pony on loan from the yard owner might give her up so i am think maybe i could take her on loan as i know she is safe and very steady she might give a little buck but she is the type of pony you just feel safe on i just want a bit of fun im not giving up on ella but i dont want to miss out if i could still ride bess i would but i feel like i want to ride have a little hack there must be people who have more than one horse to do thinks with.
what do you guys think.Bess seems to be ok but i suppose its the bute.she isnt going out every day please dont think she is being ill treat as she is not but when its not you own you have to do what the owner wants.Any feed back most welcome so sorry its so long.

It's very difficult to know what to do when the horse belongs to someone else. If the owner isn't listening to advice or doesn't want help from anyone, then they should be dealing with their horse and not passing the responsibility on to others. It seems as it's a very difficult situation. Is there any particular reason that he doesn't want her x-rayed?
