Well I guess I can now say that I am a horse rider. I have officially fallen off for the first time.

Being middleaged and new to horseriding, it was always one of my fears that we do not bounce as well as when we were younger, and if I was to fall off I may do some major damage. Today I found out. I took my mare Angel next door to my neighbours arena for the first time while my neighbour was riding her gelding, and she was a bit jittery and frightened. After walking her around for a while I thought I might as well jump on and see how we go. Oops, not quiet ready yet. Nothing nasty, just did a little pop and jumpy thing and off I went. I was lucky and did the really glamourous "grab around the neck and fall down in front of the horse thingy". I wish somebody was videoing the ride because it must have looked sooooo funny. I know it could have been a lot worse, but strange as it sounds I am actually happy that it happened because now I am not so scared of it any more.

I feel that I have turned a corner and am proud of myself that I didn't panick, got straight back on without being scared at all, calmed Angel down and we ended up having a lovely ride. Can't wait to get back on next weekend. :)

Well done for surviving your first fall, Billy Angel ... But you know the old saying: you're not a rider until you've fallen off seven times. Six more to go : D

well done for not panicking, and getting back on. I fell off two weeks ago, fracturing my coller bone, I am 19 and I did not bounce like I did the first time I ever fell off a horse, this time I splattered!

I was pretty shaken the first time I fell off,but I guess it's a test to see wether u really want to ride or not!

yeah they say you arn't a real rider enless you have fallen off 7 times, then when you get to 7 they say it's 100!

Good for you BA!
Falling is all part of the sport!
Great attitude you have towards it as well, especially since you were afraid before.
