It was Cait's first competition this year and she did it on the young pony she's been riding. Only tiny jumps but he's quite green and scared, he took a good look at some of the jumps and she really really had to encourage him on. Especially that HUGE (1'9") grey wall with those ENORMOUS sides to it!
Talk about confidence building! Cait has jumped much bigger in the past but this is a pony she has been allowed to bring on and the pair of them skipped up the field after the xc, pure happiness....
Oh, they got two sj refusals (at the huge wall) and 1 xc refusal (Cait couldnt find the jump:o ) so not too bad...
Thanks to everyone who gave her advice, really helped

I think they look wonderful.
The last jump looks huge if you ask me!:p
I would be nervous taking my solid older horse let alone a baby over that.
Good for your daughter and the pony!

Anne, they are lovely pics - Cait looks like she's riding him really well. Its not at all easy trying to remember where to go, how best to do it, AND try and be encouraging to a young pony all at the same time, she's done brilliantly xxxx

Confession time, Cait is little, but she's not that young, she's 15! (but she Istarted riding at 8, FR, and lots of people told us it was just the right age) Its the pony and the jumps that are really little, but I am so proud of them doing so well...
It was such a good day. Pony is the real star. He is a Rescue Pony - called Streaky (he is a bay roan, with a coat that looks pink and white, like streaky bacon :D ) and is probably just 13hh - on a good day. Of course when he is scared of the jumps he thinks he is 17hh.
Thanks for all your kind comments everyone.

Thanks to horse and away;
The copyright - it is ridiculous - we have actually BOUGHT those pics, but we couldnt get an e-copy!! And even all that ordering stuff on the samples site - so annoying.
My heart was too close to my mouth and my brain so out of gear watching them go round to even think about getting the camera out its case, never mind pointing in the right direction.
Still love 'em tho.

Lovely pictures. I am glad she had a great time and wasn't too disappointed to not get her double clear....lots of time to work towards it with baby pony.
Oh the motherly thing never gets any better...I still close my eyes when E jumps unless I am close enough to interfere with 'advice' :D :D

its really good to get a confidence boost every once in a while! i hope streaky got one too (although i think he did, the speed he was flying round that xc!)
thanks for the advice everyone
eml - i even forgot about double clear, was just soooooo chuffed that me and streaky got over the scary jumps. it just helped me to know what to do with a horse thats a bit unsure, young & green. your advice was fab.. thank you!
