Once a horse has has an abscess, are they more prone to them?

Not always but if the abcess(can't spell) doesn't fully clear up then they can come back!:)

J had one at the beginning of winter which recurred because it didn't drain properly the first time. Farrier did warn me to expect them all winter but have had none (touch wood) since.
