Katey has started going backwards when I ask her to turn a corner towards the gate.I don't know what it is but she does it when I canter her round a corner towards a pole on the gorund or a jump.
I don't know what it is.
For example today,I was schooling her and doing polework ie trot/canter poles, etc. and she kept going back and back and to get her to go forward I had to sort of throw my hands and the reins forward and give her a good kick.
I thought it might have been napping but they normally nap towards they gate.
I ride her in her turnout field and always have ever since we have had her so it can't be that.
I think it could be the spring grass and the weather because it was hot and dry for ages then it suddenly rained. She only started doing it when it started raining.
any help?

If she does it when cantering towards a pole or jump then it looks like they are the problem - regardless of where the gate is.

If it has just started since the rain then maybe the ground is slippy and she doesnt feel safe enough underfoot to be jumping over things.

Those are my immediate thoughts from what you say.

You jump her a lot, dont you? Or at least do pole work a fair bit. Try just doing some flat work schooling without poles, or hack and have a bit of fun with her, take the focus away from jumping and poles for a bit. It could just be that she's getting a bit pole sick and needs a break :)

I haven't jumped her alot for about a month because we have been sooooo busy with the packing and Daisy going!!

She has stopped doing it now because I took her for a good gallop today which she really enjoyed!
