I'm trying to set up an emergency contacts list and so far have the grand total of 2: my vet and farrier!
Does anybody know what you would put as an "emergency" contact?

Vet, farrier, alternative vet (just incase mine is busy), instructor, physio, insurance.
If I was taking the list off the yard, I'd add the numbers of everybody on the yard, my numbers (so if I was unconcious people could easily find them), yard address and the equine rescue service I have access too.

Also worth making sure that others on your yard have emergency contact numbers in case YOU get hurt.

Yup, next of kin should be there and your vet

I have the vets, my farrier, all of my and OH's numbers and also either a close friend or my mum - just in case anything happened and a decision needed to be made straight away when OH and I couldn't be reached. I would also put down the insurance companies contact details and my policy number.

An EDT (dentist) is also useful to have on the list. Also...local police station just incase a horse runs away or whatever.

Sorry to be morbid, but a 'disposal service' number is useful to have- hopefully you and your yard will never have cause to use it, but believe me, trying to find one late on a Saturday afternoon when you have a dead horse on the muck heap and a distressed owner on the yard is NOT easy.

Also to add, hay or straw/shavings dispatchers are also handy to have in case of urgency. And as Non-horsey as it may seem, a recovery company for if your car breaks down at the yard, along with your insurance details etc!

I have all my numbers - work, home, mobile, my OH's mobile, my vets (both stud and normal), my mum's work, home and mobile and my dad's work and mobile. My mum can deal with any emergency horse related.
